My Story

Music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. My mother played the guitar and sang in a folk group. She had a Tandberg tape recorder and a collection of reel-to-reel tapes with Northern Norwegian folk songs that would have made Jack Berntsen proud. My father had a collection of 70s rock LPs, so I was exposed to a rich, diverse range of music from an early age. A wonderful mix of Nøkken, Nordnorsk Visegruppe, Yes, and Manfred Mann.

There was a lot of music, theater, and art in my upbringing, and I eventually chose a practical aesthetic teacher education with a focus on music, dance, drama, and art. I have since worked in schools with music, art, danc and more for almost 20 years. In my spare time, I've been involved in big bands, the Steigen Sagaspill, vocal groups, theater troupes, and revues, among other things.

In March 2020, as the world shut down, my mother lost her battle with cancer after a long time of illness. Besides being a skilled guitarist, my mother was also a very good lyricist and wrote poems when she was sick. Music kept us together at the end of her life too, and we sang songs like "Mjelle," "Grågåsa," "Kjærlighetsvisa," "Sol bakom skyan," and "Blå kveill..."

Then I started writing. Lyrics and melodies came to me as easily as if my mother were sending them to me. This process helped me through my grief.

In the spring of 2022, I met Janne and David, who work with electronic music and helped me take the next step with my music.

I hope that with my music, I can help others out of the darkness.
